Washing away malaria
A simple lifesaving solution to a devastating disease - that’s what Joan Nalubega, whose childhood, disrupted by bouts of malaria, created Uganics. Uganics’ anti-malarial soap offers five hours of protection, increasing to 10 hours with the addition of a newly developed lotion. Global and tourist sales cross-subsidize the cost of soap, making it affordable to local and refugee communities. In Africa, where malaria remains a leading cause of mortality, its potential impact is immeasurable. With strategic partnerships in the U.S. and Europe, revenue has surged by 20%, and a newly built factory has increased monthly soap production from 50 to 300 kilograms.
