Christelle Kwizera founded Water Access Rwanda to address two common African problems: a lack of safe drinking water and youth unemployment. Broken water hand pumps littering the landscape reflect the reality for more than half of Rwandans who lack access to water within 30 minutes of their homes. Relying on swamps and rivers as a source makes them vulnerable to danger and waterborne disease.
Leveraging her mechanical engineering background, Christelle implements affordable, dependable, and innovative models of water access that prioritize convenience and hygiene, guaranteeing clean water’s integration into the daily lives of those at the base of the socioeconomic pyramid.
