Agronomist Aboubakar Karim has pioneered precision agriculture using drones fitted with sensors to create land-use maps and boost farmland productivity in Côte d’Ivoire. After graduating from Canada’s Laval University, Aboubakar founded Investiv, which pinpoints poor and dehydrated soil to carry out precise fertilization and detect crop diseases. Thousands of farmers can better manage their land, increase yields, and plan for climate risks with usable data. Investiv has forged partnerships with governments and agricultural cooperatives in West Africa and has expanded operations to Senegal, Cameroon, Chad, and Canada.
