Skincare from Africa that’s safe enough to eat
Harnessing the efficacy and safety of indigenous African botanicals like shea butter, MBA graduate Violet Amoabeng launched Skin Gourmet in 2014 with $45. Her mission was to create natural skincare that would dominate the market by adapting locally manufactured products with traditional roots for international consumers. Skin Gourmet’s remarkable 80% average annual revenue growth has been achieved without financing, while increases in staffing and exports help boost Ghana’s economy. Violet aims to be a world leader in sustainable skincare that also builds capacity in people. This goal becomes increasingly realizable as China joins the list of countries selling Skin Gourmet across five continents.
