Through his online food market, Mumm, Waleed Abd El Rahman introduced nutritious food from home kitchens to the fingertips and lips of Egyptian lovers of mothers’ cooking. Following a degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and 15 years of food-tech experience, this FMCG whizz turned to entrepreneurship. Mumm channeled a growing sharing economy, technology, and “cloud kitchens” to meet the demand for affordable, healthier options in the popular fast food market. In a country where women experience 24% unemployment, Mumm’s supplier network of 200 home-based cooks across Cairo provided income and business support for women, including Waleed’s mom.
